Winner of the 2007 Australia Day Community Organisation Award

Welcome:

The Gumeracha Community Association is a voluntary organisations dedicated to serving and supporting all within Gumeracha.

It aims to work with groups within the township, and the wider Torrens Valley region, involving residents, businesses, other voluntary organisations , and all levels of government, to develop a vibrant, attractive, safe and prosperous environment, while conserving the unique qualities of the township and region.

The Association works collaboratively with other organisations in the region, i.e. The Town Hall Committee, Torrens Valley Tourism Inc., Torrens Valley Lions Club, local CFS, Gumeracha Primary School, sporting and social groups.

The Association also liaises with the Adelaide Hills Council on behalf of the community on various aspects of township services, e.g. installation of the new boundary fence for Federation Park.

Meetings:

Management Committee Meetings are held on the evening of the 2nd Monday of the month. The Committee is organised into sub-committees, working and coordinating various activities, e.g. fund-raising, working-bees, specific projects and events.

Gumeracha Community Association Achievements:

Development of the Tourist Information Bay in Federation Park
Publication of a Historical Walking Trail Pamphlet - to complement the History of information montage in the Bay
Installation and upkeep of Planter Wine Barrels along Albert Street
Organisers of the POP! New Year’s Eve Family Parties in the Park
Liaison with Adelaide Hills Council on issues relating to the township, e.g. town streetscape upgrade
Representative on the Council’s Federation Park Advisory Committee
Support of the Community in fighting development decision to build a school campus in a sensitive watershed area adjacent to Federation Park
Support of the Community in fighting the possible closure of the Gumeracha Library in its current form
Establishment of the Gumeracha Township Web-site
Annual Christmas Lights display along Albert Street
On-going development of walking trails in and through the township
The installation of 4 electrical power and public address system outlets in Federation Park
The 2007 Gumeracha Medieval Fair

The Tourist Information Bay in Federation Park

Upcoming projects include:

Flora and Fauna Boards to be placed on the Tourist Information Board
History Boards at landmarks throughout the township

The Association welcomes all residents, businesses and other organisations to become members. There are no fees to join, and membership runs for 12 months from our AGM held each November.
